Uncle Walter was my Great Uncle.During his career he was Her Majesty's Inspector of Borstals for Scotland, and a supporter (patron?) of Dr. Barnardo's Homes. He had some military service during the WW1 in France, I think in the Supply Corps(?) during which time he won a medal for growing beans which he was required to exchange with his commanding officer who had won a medal for growing roses. Food supply awards were deemed to be more prestigious!His great friend was Major Moncrieff, a member of the Royal Company of Archers.
